What’s Your Story?

What's your story

When people think about fundraising, fundraising events are likely one of the first things that come to mind. Many individuals and groups take it upon themselves to hold fundraising events to benefit WDMH after they were touched by the care they or a loved one received at WDMH. Some people who host events for us are simply passionate about local health care and don’t necessarily have a “WDMH story”. Determination and a sense of humour definitely help in the event planning process though!

These events are great! The team at the Foundation is quite small, so fundraising on our behalf is very much appreciated. These events, commonly referred to as Third Party Events, contribute significantly to the Foundation’s bottom line as the Foundation just does not have the human resources to carry out several events per year.

Over the years, we’ve benefited from garage sales, bake sales, golf tournaments, craft sales, duck races, and many, many things in between. Some events are done only once, and some have been taking place for over 20 years!

Planning an event for the first time might be a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry – we are here to support you. There are many ways to raise funds at your event including entry fees, pledges, sponsorships, auctions, matching donations and more. Whatever you do, the WDMH Foundation can help you to make the most of your fundraising efforts. If you or someone you know is interested in holding an event in support of our hospital, contact Kristen Casselman for more information at 613-774-2422 ext. 6169.
