The WDMH Foundation is grateful for
the support of two dedicated community groups that helped fund a new mobile
trauma x-ray table for the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Winchester District
Memorial Hospital.
Shroomfest, Inc. donated $7,500 toward
the project, while the WDMH Auxiliary contributed the remaining balance.
Together, the two organizations ensured the much-needed equipment could be put
into service to support patient care close to home.
The Shroomfest donation was presented
at the organization's annual meeting on June 11 at the Metcalfe Curling Club.
Tony Vogrig, a former WDMH employee and longtime community supporter, presented
the cheque to WDMH Foundation Executive Director Cindy Ault Peters.
"Every donation makes a
difference, and this project is a wonderful example of what can happen when
community groups come together to support local healthcare," said Cindy
Ault Peters. "We're incredibly grateful to both Shroomfest and the WDMH
Auxiliary for helping bring this equipment to WDMH. Their generosity will have
a lasting impact on patients in our region."
Shroomfest is a men's fundraising
event held each spring in support of local charities. Year after year, this
dedicated group of fungi has continued to grow its impact across the region.
This year's event was the largest in its 19-year history, raising an impressive
$196,500 for 50 charities. The milestone pushed Shroomfest's total community
giving beyond $1 million.
Over the years, Shroomfest has
contributed more than $67,000 to the WDMH Foundation, helping fund equipment
and programs that benefit patients and families across the region.
The WDMH Auxiliary has also played a
vital role in supporting local healthcare for generations, raising funds for
equipment and initiatives that help enhance care at WDMH. Their contribution to
this project ensured the new mobile trauma x-ray table could be fully funded
and ready to serve patients.
