EmpowHer Afternoon Tea

June 04, 2026

Women across the community are invited to take part in an afternoon of connection, conversation, wellness, and inspiration at the WDMH Foundation’s EmpowHER Afternoon Tea on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crysler Community Centre.

This special afternoon blends meaningful conversation, wellness, and a touch of elegance, all in support of local healthcare.

Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated experience, including an elegant English-style afternoon tea by Simply Baked Catering, live music from guitarist and vocalist Paddy Gaffney, and a vibrant vendor marketplace featuring unique, women-focused, businesses. Interactive experiences, like creating a flower arrangement, and receiving a complimentary professional portrait add to the fun, along with door prizes and both silent and live auctions.

The afternoon will be guided by Master of Ceremonies, Councillor Danielle Ward of the Municipality of South Dundas, whose warmth and community spirit will help set the tone for a welcoming and uplifting event.

At the heart of the afternoon is inspiration and empowerment. Keynote speaker Kathie Donovan, a Sustainable Happiness Expert, author, and former television personality, will share insights from her latest book, You Look Great for Your Age and Other Things We Should Never Say Again. Through an honest and relatable lens, she will explore how language and self-talk can hold woman back and how we can move forward with greater confidence, kindness, and authenticity.

The program will also shine a light on women’s heart health, an important topic that is often overlooked. Guests will hear from a speaker representing the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Centre, affiliated with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, along with a powerful lived experience shared by a WDMH volunteer. Practical wellness tips from Monarch Fitness will round out the conversation, focusing on strength, mobility, and healthy habits for women.

Proceeds from this event will support the WDMH Foundation’s Healthcare Undesignated Fund, benefiting both Winchester District Memorial Hospital and Dundas Manor Long-Term Care Home, helping ensure care is there when and where it’s needed most.

Organizers hope the EmpowHER Afternoon Tea will create a welcoming space where women can come together to learn something meaningful, support local healthcare, and enjoy an uplifting afternoon.
