Ready, Set, Snow! Snowshoe Race Raises Funds for WDMH

March 09, 2026

The Dion Ignite the Night Snowshoe Race delivered an unforgettable winter evening on January 17. Under clear skies and ideal conditions, a record-setting 157 snowshoers lit up the trails at Upper Canada Village, surrounded by more than one million twinkling lights along the course.

Recognized as Canada’s largest snowshoe race, the event welcomed both racers and walkers of all experience levels. Participants tackled Snowshoe Canada‑sanctioned 5 km and 10 km routes, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, enthusiasm, and strong community spirit.

The WDMH Foundation is grateful that the event raised $500 in support of the WDMH Foundation’s Family Care Fund, helping local families receive compassionate care close to home.

The Foundation also extends heartfelt thanks to Shiloh Gillard and team, who shared how proud they are to support the hospital through this annual fundraiser. With another outstanding year in the books, planning is already underway to make Ignite the Night 2027 bigger and brighter.
