Trillium Gift of Life Network
Organ and tissue donation notification program
WDMH is committed to providing comprehensive end
of life care that is compassionate in nature. This includes honouring a
patient’s consent decision to donate organs and/or tissues after death or by
ensuring that the opportunity for donation has been provided to families when a
patient’s consent has not previously been registered.
WDMH is pleased to partner with the Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) to work
to save more lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. WDMH is a designated facility that provides notification to TGLN about potential donation opportunities. A
call to TGLN starts the process of saving and enhancing lives.
The decision to become an organ and/or tissue donor is a personal one. Each situation is unique and the WDMH team is here to support the family throughout the process. The first priority is always to save a life. Donation is only considered after all life-saving efforts are exhausted, there is no chance of recovery, and the family accepts the diagnosis of death. If you have any questions, please speak with your health care provider.
Donations help
honour a person’s wish to donate, leaving a lasting legacy for grieving
families, and helping to start a new life for someone who is waiting for a
transplant. To ensure that your donation decision is honored,
register your consent online at www.beadonor.ca or
in person at a ServiceOntario centre. Be sure to speak to your family about
your wishes.
