Nearly 300 Men Take Charge of Their Health at PSA Awareness Event

299 men showed up, rolled up their sleeves,
and took an important step for their health at Winchester District Memorial Hospital's
recent PSA Awareness Event.
The event offered free PSA blood screening for eligible men, access to
prostate health information, and the opportunity to speak directly with a
urologist. With no appointment required, it made screening easy, convenient,
and accessible.
“We were thrilled with the turnout,” said CEO,
Cholly Boland. “Seeing 299 men make time for their health shows how important awareness
and early detection are.”
WDMH extends its sincere thanks to The Black
Walnut Prostate Cancer Support Group, Ride for Dad, Prostate Cancer Support
Ottawa, Nation Valley ATV Club, and the Lions Clubs of Morrisburg, Metcalfe,
Iroquois, South Mountain and Winchester for their support. Special thanks also
go to the volunteers and WDMH team members who helped make
the event a success. From physicians, nurses, laboratory staff and clerks to
countless others working behind the scenes, their commitment helped create a
welcoming and seamless experience for everyone who attended.
One of the key messages of the day was that
prostate cancer screening is simpler than many people think. A PSA test is just
a blood test, but it can provide important information about prostate health
and help identify concerns that may require follow-up.
Beyond the testing itself, the event was
about starting conversations, answering questions, and encouraging men to take
an active role in their health. Judging by the turnout, that message clearly
resonated.
